Laura Linney is an American actor who has become famous for her portrayal of powerful but fragile characters. Her father was a celebrated writer, however Linney was raised as an all-only child with a single mother, a nurse. During the summers and with her father, Linney developed a passion for theater. Her first stage experience was first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. After two years of the graduation, she began the beginning of her Broadway career. A few years later, she was in television. Her appearances have been on a variety of stages, films and television shows since that time. There have been numerous awards during her professional career. They include the four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. Although she received many awards over the years, theater has always been her first love.
